Established in 1981, the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) is the oldest and largest national student association in Canada. The Federation unites more than 650,000 college, undergraduate, graduate, part-time and international students from coast to coast.

Students recognize that a fully accessible high-quality post-secondary education system cannot be achieved without dismantling systemic barriers to participation. Through campaigns such as Fight the Fees, United for Equity and Fairness for International Students, the Federation strives to reduce and eliminate tuition fees and challenge systemic oppression in all its forms. Through on-campus outreach, community activism and strategic government relations work, the Federation has achieved many victories for students including a federal and provincial student grants systems, on and off campus work permits for international students and provincial legislation to protect survivors of sexualized violence in British Columbia, Manitoba and Ontario.
